Communication Rights
Our Communication Rights programme responds to the needs of marginalised and vulnerable women and girls at different levels of society who have experienced specific communication deficits in their lives, i.e. not having platforms to amplify their voices, producing relevant content to address their daily needs and concerns, owning media and receiving media products in a language they understand and formats that they can easily access. We provide conditions needed for a positive cycle of communication which does not only involve seeking, receiving and imparting information but include listening and being heard, understanding, learning, creating and responding. Outcomes: We want women and girls to have: Increased access to information on critical issues; Their voices amplified in the public domain; Improved self-confidence and ability to articulate women’s human rights for themselves by themselves; Increased freedom of expression and freedom of opinion; Produce and consume content (knowledge and information) to meet their daily needs. We also anticipate assertive behaviour, mutual respect, tolerance and entrenched democratic participation.
